Voluntary Milking Systems were developed so that cows could be milked with little need of human assistance. The cows become dependent on the machines to relive them of there uncomfortable engorgement. Cows will voluntarily line up two to three times a day to be milked to get relief.

It is also called Robotic Milking because of the use of computers and software. These milking machines besides gathering the milk needed for production and profit, can monitor the status of a cows health. The machine can identify cows and record how often and how much milk the cow produces. This information helps the farmer evaluate a cows value or estimate it’s cost to the farm.
